Tomorrow, a new special episode will premiere on Disney +; the show’s social media pages have released the final trailer and a promotional poster offering a glimpse at the two segments: one featuring Homer and the defective lamp, with scenes set in the past, and the other featuring Maggie and the friendly yet controlling AI. What will happen? The only way to find out is to watch it—but be careful, because anything can happen in the Yellow Mirror.

Yesterday, a panel dedicated to the show was held at D23, and there were plenty of surprises. The sequel is titled  The New Simpsons Movie, and a rough animatic was shown of a scene where Homer and the entire town of Springfield try to catch a baseball in a hilarious and thrilling sequence. The movie will be released in theaters on September 3, 2027.

Other announcements included the title of the first episode of Season 38, details on one of the episodes, and information about this year’s  Treehouse of Horror.

The Children’s Book Job, in which a British children’s book author comes to Springfield to give a talk at Springfield Elementary School, and Homer is tasked with picking her up from the airport—but things go awry from there. The episode will feature Emma Thompson as a guest star.

Treehouse of Horror XXXVII will feature a segment parodying the movie Freaky Friday and the book Pet Sematary written by Stephen King, in which Bart and Santa’s Little Helper swap bodies, and there will be a couch gag created by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios parodying the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas.

One of the episodes of the next season will feature Bart and Lisa adopting a baby chimpanzee. Homer becomes obsessed with the idea that the monkey will tear off his face when it gets older. Homer has a vivid dream sequence in which his face is gone; he goes to the hospital, where monkey surgeons reattach his face to his groin.

Finally, Matt Groening may have hinted that Hit & Run could return as a remake or remaster in the future, but showrunner Matt Selman responds with, “Or not.” Hmm… Something’s up here. All joking aside, we’ll just have to wait for an official announcement.

A new promotional poster for the next Disney + episode has been released on the official press release page of the streaming platform, Explore Disney +.  The special episode will release on July 3rd.
