This post serves as a summary on all we know on future episodes of Season 36 and beyond so far. We’ll update it costantly as more news come.
Season 36 started Sunday, September 29, 2024. It’s on pause at the moment and it’ll resuming airing on Fox this Sunday, March 30 with the episode “The Flandshees of Innersimpson“.
It consists of 22 episodes, 18 airing on Fox and 4 released on Disney+ (with the first counting as 2 episodes). 7 episodes have yet to be aired on Fox and 1 to be released on Disney+.

The Simpsons will return on Fox this Sunday, March 30:
“The Flandshees of Innersimpson” (36ABF05)
It’ll be the fifteenth episode.
It will air on March 30, 2025.
Bart dips his toe into the world of celebrity DJ-ing, and Homer finally pushes Flanders too far.
The episode was written by Dan Vebber.
It guest stars Jane Kaczmarek as Judge Harm, Rachel Bloom as Annette, and Fiona Shaw as Mrs. McCormick.
“The Last Man Expanding” (36ABF06)
It’ll be the sixteenth episode.
It will air on April 6, 2025.
Springfield becomes hooked on a miracle weight loss drug… all except Homer.
It’ll be Comic Book Guy episode.
It was written by J. Stewart Burns and directed by Timothy Bailey. It was showran by Al Jean.
It guest stars Joe Mantegna as Fat Tony.
“P.S., I Hate You” (36ABF07)
It’ll be the seventeenth episode.
It will air on April 13, 2025.
It was written and co-showran by Cesar Mazariegos. It was directed by Michael Polcin
“Abe League of Their Moe” (36ABF08)
It will air on April 27, 2025.
A Baseball themed episode with a parody of Shōhei Ōtani and his Picadillos gambling scandal. Hank Azaria says it’s a “good Moe show”.
It was written by Joel H. Cohen and directed by Rob Oliver. It was co-showran by Michael Price.
Unscheduled Episodes:
“Yellow Planet” (35ABF20)
It’s the third episode to be released exclusively on Disney+. It’ll be the last one to air in Season 36.
Nature documentary style episode, ala The Blue Planet and National Geographic, in which the characters are adorable, screwed up, animals.
It will be the last to have Pamela Hayden in the cast, as for her retirement, however the last episode she recorded was “O C’mon All Ye Faithful“.
It was written by J. Stewart Burns and directed by Timothy Bailey. It’s showran by Matt Selman, Al Jean, Tim Long and Brian Kelley.
“Stew Lies” and “Full Heart, Empty Pool” (36ABF09 and 36ABF10)
36ABF09 was written by Broti Gupta.
36ABF10 was written by Jeff Westbrook.
Production code is currently unknown due to the unknown order the WGA adds the episodes to the list.
“Estranger Things” (36ABF11)
It was written by Tim Long.
“Men Behaving Manly” (36ABF12)
It’ll be a Homer, Moe, Lenny, Carl and Barney episode.
It was written by John Frink and directed by Steven Dean Moore. It was showran by Al Jean.
“Keep Chalm and Gary On” (36ABF14)
It was written by Christine Nangle and co-showran by Rob LaZebnik.
“Treehouse of Horror XXXVI” (36ABF15)
It was written and showran by Michael Price, written by Michael Price, Broti Gupta and Dan Greaney, and directed by Matthew Faughnan.
It will air in Fall.
“Bad Boys… for Life?” (36ABF17)
It was written and showran by Al Jean and directed by Eric Koenig.
It’ll be a Bart-centric episode.
It guest stars Matthew Modine.
It will air this year.
“Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition” (36ABF20-21)
It’s a double lenght episode, and the 799th and 800th in production order.
The title is a pun on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition that involves its plot.
It was written by Michael Price and Nick Dahan and directed by Matthew Nastuk for part 1 and Timothy Bailey for part 2. It was showran by Matt Selman and Michael Price.
“Yellow Mirror” (36ABF22)
It was written by Carolyn and Kai Omine.
Harlan Dondelinger, and young Carl and Lenny appear in it.
Unscheduled Episodes without Production Code:
Originally “The Beautiful Shame” had the production code 35ABF08. However, in January of 2024 “The Yellow Lotus” script was read with this code, while “The Beautiful Shame” was postponed.
“Marge and Homer and Moe and Maya“
It was written and showran by Al Jean.
Work on it began before the 2023 WGA and the SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Untitled episodes:
36ABF13, 36ABF16, 36ABF18, 36ABF19
Nothing is known about them.
Upcoming plots:
In one episode, Marge‘s self-image in the town that everyone thinks she’s a good person is at stake when Homer and Marge have to respond to a kidnapping and extortion situation. The kidnappers have not yet been decided on, but they’re thinking of Jimbo and Shauna.
One episode will reference the court room scene from the film Anatomy of a Fall.
One idea Al Jean has is Willie posing on OnlyFans.
Michael Price is co-writing an episode that started as Homer being like Ned Merrill, but going home by invading people’s backyard barbecues. It still has a slight Cheever-ish aspect to it but they lost the BBQs.
An episode will feature a giant hat on a catapult, an hatapult, due to a character only knowing how to hit things with hat. because there’s a character that only knows how to hit things with hats. The episode or segment is called “Homer vs. the Hatapult”.

There are not plans of another cannon halloween episodes for now.
Matt Selman wants to do a Bluey couch gag in response to the Bluey opening parody.
Jessica Conrad has several episodes written.
