Playdate with Destiny, a new Simpsons short, is announced!
The Simpsons on Instagram has announced a new Simpsons short, titled Playdate with Destiny.
Playdate with Destiny will air before showings of the Disney Pixar film Onward from March 6, 2020 onwards. The short seems to feature the baby from the delayed episode “The Incredible Lightness of Being a Baby“.
“The Incredible Lightness of Being a Baby” was originally supposed to air in season 30 on April 7, 2019. However, it was pulled for unknown reasons. We now know the reason behind it being mysteriously pulled was so it could air closer to Playdate with Destiny since it’s likely the episode and short are going to be closely related. “The Incredible Lightness of Being a Baby” is now scheduled to air on April 19, 2020.

Playdate with Destiny will be the second short to air before a movie in cinemas, after 2012’s The Longest Daycare. The Longest Daycare got nominated for several awards.
Hank Azaria Is No Longer Voicing Apu
Long-time voice actor Hank Azaria will no longer voice Apu in The Simpsons.
Apu has been a mainstay of The Simpsons for decades. However, in 2017, comedian Hari Kondabolu released a documentary called The Problem with Apu which addressed the racist stereotypes about Indian people that Apu has brought in. After this documentary came out, Apu’s role in the show declined. And whilst it was somewhat addressed in the season 29 episode “No Good Read Goes Unpunished“, with Lisa saying “Something that started decades ago and was applauded and inoffensive is now politically incorrect. What can you do?”, before the camera pans to a photo of Apu, Apu no longer had a speaking role, only appearing in background shots. Hank Azaria told SlashFilm in an interview that “All we know there is I won’t be doing the voice anymore, unless there’s someway to transition it or something”
The stereotypes surrounding Apu had previously been addressed in the season 27 episode “Much Apu About Something“, which was released a year before The Problem with Apu. In this episode, Jay (voiced by Utkarsh Ambudkar), Apu’s nephew, calls Apu out on being a stereotype and attempts to change his ways. Ambudkar was also one of the people who spoke out against Apu in The Problem with Apu.
It is currently unknown if Apu will be voiced by a new actor or if the character will be retired from the show in some way. But if Apu does return in a speaking role, it will no longer be Hank Azaria voicing him.
Martin, Sherri and Terri have a new voice! Grey Griffin joins The Simpsons!
Al Jean revealed on Twitter that voice actress Grey Griffin will be joining the show as the new voice of Martin, Sherri and Terri. DeLisle takes over the role from longtime voice actress Russi Taylor, who passed away in July 2019.

DeLisle is well known for her voice acting work, possibly best known for the role of Daphne Blake in the Scooby-Doo franchise.
Russi Taylor, voice actress for The Simpsons, has died
Russi Taylor, recurring voice actress for The Simpsons, died yesterday, July 26th, at the age of 75. As of now, the cause of her death is unrevealed.
Taylor voiced Martin Prince, Sherri and Terri and Üter Zörker in The Simpsons, among many other characters. She was credited for 190 episodes before her death. Outside of The Simpsons, Taylor was the voice of Minnie Mouse.
It is currently unknown if Taylor has recorded for any season 31 episodes or what, if anything, will happen to her characters. In the past, characters have been retired from the show when their voice actors died.

We have multiple active users who work on all parts of the wiki, from writing up about new episodes, to creating huge, detailed pages on Tapped Out updates, to working on the comic articles and all other aspects of the show and franchise. Stan Lee Has Died Age 95
Comic book legend Stan Lee died today, aged 95. Stan Lee was best known as editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics. He also cameoed in many Marvel Comics films.
Stan Lee has had multiple guest appearances in the show, each time as himself, in the season 13 episode “I Am Furious (Yellow)“, the season 25 episode “Married to the Blob” and the season 28 episode “The Caper Chase“.
“Thank You, Come Again!” – Apu Isn’t Going Anywhere
The Simpsons showrunner and executive producer Al Jean has confirmed that Apu Nahasapeemapetilon isn’t going anywhere and the show is keeping the character.
Apu drew a lot of criticism recently when last year, comedian Hari Kondabolu released a documentary, The Problem with Apu, going over the problems with Apu and the negative stereotypes he brought with him. After this, television producer Adi Shankar started a script contest which he hoped would be made into an episode of The Simpsons to subvert Apu’s tropes and write him out in a clever way or evolve him as a character. Then, in late October, Shankar told IndieWire in an article that he had heard from multiple sources that Apu was being dropped altogether. Other articles then incorrectly referred to Shankar as a producer for The Simpsons, resulting in Al Jean stating on Twitter that Shankar was not a producer for the show.

Simpsons Comics To Come To an End After 245 Issues
Bongo Comics series Simpsons Comics is to come to an end after 245 issues.
The 245th issue will be released in October 2018. Over recent years, multiple series from Bongo Comics have been discontinued, or reduced to a limited release on the Simpsons Store app. The future of Bongo Comics itself is also not known, with most series from them on hiatus or cancelled.
It is currently unknown if there will be a successor to Simpsons Comics or nor.
