Season 27 News: New Episode and more writers and directors announced!

It’s been a week since I last made a “big” post about lots of news about Season 27, so more news have come during this week so here’s a “little” summary:

(All the sources are in Wikisimpsons’ Season 27 article and in the episodes articles)

Season 27 in General

The most relevant news about Season 27(in general) this week have been that music editor Chris Ledesma has told in twitter that Season 27 will end in May 22, 2016!

So, we know lots of episode titles, writers and directors, and we also know the airdates of the Season Premiere and the Finale. What is still left to know??? Plots for lots of episodes and lots of airdates!

And remember that next week the “San Diego Comic-Con 2015″ will take place and The Simpsons panel will be in Saturday, July 11; at noon-12:45 p.m. in Ballroom 20. Creator Matt Groening, executive producers Al Jean and Matt Selman, supervising director Mike Anderson, longtime director David Silverman and Nancy Cartwright (Bart, Nelson and Ralph’s voice [among others]) will be in the show’s panel. The Springfield Shopper(this blog) will inform about it and we’ll [try to] post a summary of what happened during the panel.

Season 27 News: More Plots and Guest stars announced!

The SimpsonsThe Simpsons

FOX has posted (apparently some time ago) PDFs with information about the next seasons of their shows. In The Simpsons‘ document it says the following:

«The family adventures continue this fall as Homer and Marge have a trial separation and Homer begins dating a 20-something (guest voice Lena Dunham), in the Season Premiere. In subsequent episodes, Selma (Kavner) and Patty (Kavner) agree to quit smoking; Homer loses $5,000 in a poker game and loans Lisa out to repay the debt; and the Simpsons’ home gets robbed. Also, in the “Treehouse of Horror XXVI” episode, Sideshow Bob (guest voice Kelsey Grammer) finally kills Bart; Homer wakes up with short-term memory loss; and Lisa, Bart and Milhouse (Pamela Hayden) get super-powers from radiation. Additional guest voices this season include Kristen Bell, Nick Kroll, Edward James Olmos, comedian Blake Anderson (“Workaholics”), magician David Copperfield and violinist Yo-Yo Ma.»

New upcoming Plots

  • Patty and Selma will agree to quit smoking.
  • Homer will lose $5,000 in a poker game and will loan Lisa out to repay the debt.
  • The Simpsons’ home will get robbed

The plots of the segments of “Treehouse of Horror XXVI”

  1. Sideshow Bob will finally kill Bart and then won’t know what to do with his life after having completed his lifelong quest.
  2. Homer will wake up with short-term memory loss.
  3. Lisa, Bart and Milhouse will get super-powers due to radiation.

More guest stars announced!

The PDF document states that actors Nick Kroll and Edward James Olmos, comedian Blake Anderson (“Workaholics”) and cellist[violoncellist] Yo-Yo Ma will join the current list of guest stars of the show’s twenty-seventh season.

Homer and Marge Are NOT Breaking Up For Good!!!

There has been a lot of rumors flying around the Internet that Homer and Marge will be breaking up for good in season 27. This has come from a recent interview with Variety (which you can read here) where Al Jean said “Homer and Marge legally separate”. Okay, now read that quote again. “Homer and Marge legally separate”. Where in that does it say “for good”, “for a season-long arc”, “forever”? Oh, yeah… NOWHERE!

Why the media have taken this and blown it up is beyond me. When has The Simpsons ever done a season long arc? Plot points very rarely extend longer than an episode. Homer and Marge have had trouble with their marriage in the past. But they have always gotten through it.

Also, I would like to point out that the information for this episode, which is the season 27 premiere “Every Man’s Dream” in which Homer and Marge separate has been known since January. That’s 5 months! It’s been known for 5 months that they will separate and it is only just brought up now!

Homer and Marge are not separating for longer than an episode so stop believing the crap the media is spreading.

Season 27 News: Homer will vote in 2016!

Homer in 2012Back in 2008, we saw Homer trying to vote in Season 20‘s “Treehouse of Horror XIX” opening segment. He tried to vote for Obama but all his votes went to McCain. And in 2012, he voted for Romney because he invented Obamacare.

Homer in 2008And next year [2016] we’ll see something like that taking place. Showrunner Al Jean has revealed it during an interview with Variety. That is basically the only new information he has given.

Season 27 News: Sideshow Bob will finally kill Bart!

BobSideshow Bob started his quest to kill Bart some years ago (In 1990, to be accurate) and he has tried it an uncountable number of times. This fall, he will finally fulfill his lifetime ambition. He will actually kill Bart Simpson. This plot will be one of the segments of this year’s Treehouse of Horror (XXVI). The plot of segment will be that Bob kills Bart and then won’t know what to do with himself after his life’s mission has been accomplished.

Bob trying to murder Bart

The Simpsons‘ showrunner Al Jean told it while at their ATX Festival panel in Austin, Texas, on Saturday. Jean said he always wanted to see the Coyote get the Road Runner in Looney Tunes. So Bob will actually execute Bart.

Remember that this episode (“Treehouse of Horror XXVI“) is a Treehouse of Horror episode, so it will be a “non-canon” episode, which means that the events in the episode don’t take place in The Simpsons‘ timeline, so Bart will be back just after the segment ends.

Other news about Season 27

*Al Jean also stated [at their ATX Festival panel in Austin, Texas] that a fan-favorite character from The Simpsons Movie will return during the upcoming 27th season. — Homer’s beloved (and favourite) pig will be back!

Plopper

*Kate McKinnon and Natalie Maines will guest star as homeless women with an incredible singing voice! (In episode titled “Gal of Constant Sorrow“)
